Hi, Can anyone provide some guidance about what is the best method to pull data from external data source i.e. SQL DB. What is the best method to use from the following.: 1. Using an ODBC 2. Use ADO recordset/VBA code 3. Develop custom data interface To give you some background for understanding the need for this. I've multiple assets…(Show moreShow less)
Dear Gregor, Thank you for the reply, I have tried the below vba code (Remove and Create), which works fine with me. as i use a combo box to make a StringName in the where clause as variable. whenever the StringName changes the query clause change as well. "Sub CreateODBCDataSet() Dim MyDataset As Dataset Dim MyDatasets As Datasets Dim…
So basically what I am trying to accomplish is to have 4 data points that can be selected in PB and changed to whatever the operator desires. The end result is simply to have historical trending options of these 4 points. I am not to skilled with VB code so I am trying to steer clear of it but I do feel as though there is a relatively simple…(Show moreShow less)
Hi Derek, You can absolutely write to PI Points from within ProcessBook but you will need to use VBA. Fortunately, as you predicted, the code is not that complex. If you have AF attributes configured using these points as their data reference, they will update automatically. Here is the code: Dim newVal As Variant…
I was working on a static symbol, not linked to an attribute. Trying Datasourcebehaviours.None resulted in the symbol not shown in the symbol selection pane. Changing it to single makes it appear. Is this not supported? Or how should this work?
Thanks all! Must have overlooked that thread. I would see a benefit in making this possible in the future. Of course it does make sense to have this option but i agree that the current position in the Coresight pane makes no sense.
I have do further reach for the blink in sync, The same pi af attribute will blink in sync, for example, HPC_PKG/HC1 Two different pi af attributes will not blink in sync. for example, HPC_PKG/HC1 and HPC_PKG/HC2.

There is no out-of-the-box way to do so, but you could always build a custom symbol to operate as such. You can find the documentation here PI Coresight 2016 Extensibility Documentation If you start working on it, you will definitely want to check out PI Visualization Development community as well. Hi all, Can someone help me figure out how to customize the Asset Comparison Table symbol (or duplicate it as a custom symbol) so that it can use the currently selected asset for the display as the search root for the collection? Here's what I'm trying to accomplish: -I have a PI Vision display for a building. On this display I have a table…(Show moreShow less)
Hi Ryan, That is helpful, but I was trying to avoid that since I have a large number of buildings, each listed under a parent "Site" element. The navigation link table would be extremely long in my case. Can you think of a way to programatically set the search root if I were to extend the already existing Asset Comparison Table symbol with a…
