    Transform Your World with Data

ABSTRACT:   People with data will transform their world. With assets,   machines and systems becoming smarter and delivering   more data than ever, there are new opportunities to advance your understanding of operations. Understanding that empowers   you to drive process, asset health, energy and   quality improvements across the organization. This session focuses on the business   impact of data, and how an infrastructure   approach, with the right capabilities, can help everyone from engineers to executives across the organization make   impactful decisions in real-time.

    SPEAKER: Martin Jette,   Regional Manager

Martin Jetté is the Canadian Regional Manager based in   Montreal. As such he is responsible for expanding OSIsoft's business   presence, overseeing OSIsoft's commitment to local communities, and   maintaining a high level of employee engagement. Martin attended Montreal Polytechnique   University and received a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering. He is a member of l’Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec.

    09:30 – 10:10 AM

    Transforming Data into Actionable Information

ABSTRACT: Today, the PI System manages just under 1 billion data feeds   across the 17,000 sites worldwide. With such volumes of data spread   across the organization, the ultimate question   is, how can an individual or group of individuals tap into and use everything that   is available to them. Data on its own can be   difficult to understand, combine, and share unless it has context that   enables anyone in the organization to quickly comprehend, interpret and act on information. This session focuses on the best practices and required   capabilities for sharing, standardizing   and consistently enriching data from business and operations systems so that   data is self-service and turned into   actionable information at every level in the organization.

    SPEAKER:   Ken Starz

    Transform Information into Intelligence

ABSTRACT: More and   more companies are turning to big data engines to gain new insights   into sensor based data, assets, processes and   business systems for novel operational insights. The reality is that there is   a hybrid world of local data and enterprise big data analytics and   visualization required to support operations: local   data for immediate and localized systems and operations, and big data   for longer term and cross enterprise analysis to uncover correlations,   trends, and patterns that may not be obvious at the time. This session   explores best practices for data analytics and visualization, the latest   visualization and analytics tools in the PI System, and new opportunities to leverage your PI Data for Big Data initiatives within the   organization.

SPEAKER: Randy Giguere,   Field Service Engineer

Randy Giguere joined OSIsoft   3 years ago.  As a Field Service Engineer,   Randy performs PI System installation and upgrade, provides training to   customers and helps customers on the phone.    He studied Biochemical Engineering at Sherbrooke University in Quebec.

    11:30 - 12:00 PM

Developing Cleaner Energy with the PI System: Implementation at Nsolv’s Warm Solvent Pilot Plant – Nsolv

ABSTRACT: Nsolv is a Canadian, clean-tech energy company devoted to solving operational and environmental problems of heavy oil extraction.  The company has patented warm solvent technology for in-situ projects that requires zero water and far less energy compared to steam-assisted gravity drainage (SAGD).   The company is currently operating a pilot plant near Fort McMurray with the goal of validating the commercial viability of the Nsolv technology.

Nsolv has greatly benefited from the PI System at the pilot plant.  It has enabled Nsolv, a small company with limited resources, the ability to meet similar demands and expectations that are required of larger companies.  Nsolv has leveraged a set of PI System tools (PI ProcessBook, PI DataLink and PI API) to help satisfy regulatory and business requirements, generate revenue and provide around-the-clock operational support; all the while maintaining its small workforce.  The PI System is truly a force multiplier.

    SPEAKER: Randy Vu, Systems Engineer

Randy Vu is a Systems Engineer with Nsolv Corporation and oversees the instrumentation, control and PI System.  He has 8 years of experience in upstream and downstream oil and gas industries with focus on data acquisition, visualization and analysis.

    12:00 - 12:30 PM

Fleet-wide SAGD Well Production Data Analysis using OSIsoft PI System and TIBCO Spotfire – Statoil Canada / iSolutions

ABSTRACT: StatOil Canada produces ~20,000 bbl / day of heavy oil using InSitu steam-assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) production processes at its Leismer facility. StatOil is actively working to optimize the SAGD wells at the Leismer facility to increase bitumen production and lower steam-oil ratios. The Leismer facility has over 5 years of high-resolution well production and sensor data stored in OSIsoft’s PI Server. Tibco Spotfire was used for assisting production & reservoir engineers with well pad and full field optimization due to both the sheer volume of data involved and the need to provide self-serve analytic capabilities. This talk discusses the implementation of a SAGD in PI Asset Framework and the use of PIOLEDB Enterprise as a data connectivity layer for Spotfire. Using the PI System and Spotfire, StatOil dramatically reduced data acquisition and data cleansing time requirements, improved and well optimization cycles, improved accessibility to production data metrics and shortened decision making time.

SPEAKER: Keivan Khademi, Senior Reservoir Engineer at Statoil Canada; Stephen Park, Senior Consultant at iSolutions

Keivan Khademi has more than 10 years engineering experience, having worked in diversified international Reservoir Engineering projects including well operations monitoring and test design, Well Testing Field Operations  and reservoir engineering (conventional and InSitu thermal). Keivan has diverse work experience covering geographic areas including Qatar, Russia, Indonesia, and is currently a Senior Reservoir Engineer at Statoil Canada.

Stephen Park has more than 15 years production data management and software development experience, having worked with data acquisition, visualization and analysis toolsets across a number of industry verticals. Stephen currently specializes in upstream oil and gas (InSitu, conventional, midstream, oilsands mining) analytics and field data capture systems and is a partner and lead consultant with iSolutions Inc.

Big Data Analytics with the PI System - OSIsoft

ABSTRACT: Big Data is a megatrend that is all over the technology news, promising to help companies turn data into dollars. Come and learn more about the landscape of big data tools and how the PI System fits into this rapidly evolving ecosystem. In this session, we will highlight several PI System users who are using new integration technology from OSIsoft along with the SAP HANA and Hadoop big data platforms to optimize operations. Come and see how big data analytic tools, PI Integrators, and the PI System can be used to accelerate operational intelligence.

Cooking with   the PI System – Training with Asset Framework

DESCRIPTION:   Have you ever wondered, How do I do Overall Equipment Efficiency   with the PI System? How other PI System users are doing Condition-based   Maintenance? Track power usage in your critical facilities? Downtime   analysis? Now you can see how it's done. In this session, we focus on the   recently released PI Asset Based Cookbook. The Cookbook is a collection of   “recipes” for projects that our customers have proven valuable in their   environment. Each recipe is organized into ingredients (what PI System   features you need), Steps (how to accomplish the task), and Serving   Suggestions (how do I display my results).
