    Transform Your World with Data

ABSTRACT:   People with data will transform their world. With assets,   machines and systems becoming smarter and delivering   more data than ever, there are new opportunities to advance your understanding of operations. Understanding that empowers   you to drive process, asset health, energy and   quality improvements across the organization. This session focuses on the   business impact of data, and how an   infrastructure approach, with the right capabilities, can help   everyone from engineers to executives across the   organization make impactful decisions in real-time.

    Transforming Data into Information

ABSTRACT: Today, the PI System manages over 1 billion data feeds   across the 17,000 sites worldwide. With such volumes of data spread   across the organization, the ultimate question   is, how can an individual or group of individuals tap into and use everything that   is available to them. Data on its own can be   difficult to understand, combine, and share unless it has context that   enables anyone in the organization to quickly comprehend, interpret and act on information. This session focuses on the best practices and required   capabilities for sharing, standardizing   and consistently enriching data from business and operations systems so that   data is self-service and turned into   actionable information at every level in the organization.

SPEAKER:   Louis-Phillippe Page-Morin, Senior Systems Engineer

Transform Information into Intelligence   - OSIsoft

ABSTRACT:   More and more companies are turning to big data engines to   gain new insights into sensor based data, assets,   processes and business systems for novel operational insights.  The reality is   that there is a hybrid world of local data and enterprise big data analytics and visualization required to support operations: local data for immediate and localized systems and   operations, and big data for longer term and cross enterprise analysis to   uncover correlations, trends, and patterns that may not be obvious at the time.  This session explores best practices for data analytics and visualization, the latest visualization and analytics tools in the PI System, and new opportunities to leverage your PI Data for Big Data initiatives within the   organization.

SPEAKER: Kevin Geneva,   Field Service Engineer

Merck’s Journey through OSIsoft Enterprise Agreement & Standard PI System Core   Build - Merck

ABSTRACT:   Merck has the PI System installed across the   enterprise and in multiple sites. Some challenges that Merck faces are the   lack of standard PI System architecture, multiple deployment and support   models, and inadequate user management processes.  This has led Merck to seek   a solution with OSIsoft’s Enterprise Agreement (EA). This talk will walk   through Merck’s journey to an EA, the development of a standard PI System   Core Build which is Merck’s suit of standardized OSIsoft technologies,  standardized architecture and configuration, including standardized   deployment and support model.  The talk will also explain how this approach   was used to deploy the PI System globally faster and cheaper and how the   standardization benefits the long term support model.

SPEAKER: Salla Diop, Manufacturing Project/Product Manager

    12:00 - 12:30 PM

The PI System and Smart Meter Data in Operations – Pepco Holding

ABSTRACT:  Pepco Holdings, Inc. (PHI) provides electric service to over 1.8 million customers across New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, and the District of Columbia. As the electric system evolves, it is critical to assess new technologies and practices and develop ways to reduce energy usage and peak demand.

Conservation Voltage Reduction (CVR) allows for both the reduction of peak demand and energy usage by lowering the voltage on the distribution feeder. The PI System allows PHI to store data from smart meters to assess CVR performance and verify that proper voltage is still being delivered to all customers.

    SPEAKER:   Tim Schwartz, Lead Engineer

Timothy Schwarz is a lead engineer with PHI System Operations Engineering department. He has worked for PHI for 6 years. Prior to joining PHI, he worked as a distribution engineer for PPL Electric Utilities. He has been the PHI PI Program Manager for the last 4 years. Timothy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Bucknell University and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from University of Maryland. He is also a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Delaware and the District of Columbia.

Cooking with   the PI System – Training with Asset Framework

DESCRIPTION:   Have you ever wondered, How do I do Overall Equipment Efficiency   with the PI System? How other PI System users are doing Condition-based   Maintenance?  Track power usage in your critical facilities? Downtime   analysis? Now you can see how it's done. In this session, we focus on the   recently released PI Asset Based Cookbook. The Cookbook is a collection of   “recipes” for projects that our customers have proven valuable in their   environment. Each recipe is organized into ingredients (what PI System   features you need), Steps (how to accomplish the task), and Serving   Suggestions (how do I display my results).
