This is the material for the PI AF SDK for Beginners course held during TechCon 2016. It covers basic usage of the PI AF SDK. A background in .NET application development and a familiarity with the PI System (but not PI AF SDK) are assumed. An additional short introduction with reference links for PI AF SDK is available in Appendix 1 of the workbook if further background is needed.
The exercises cover the following topics:
1. Connection and Hierarchy Basics
2. Searching for Assets
3. Reading and Writing Data
4. Building an AF Hierarchy
5. Working with Event Frames
Exercise 2 requires AF 2.8. Others require at least AF 2.5 with .NET Framework 4.x.
