This Heat Exchanger Tutorial is a guided exercise in creating a templatized heat exchanger including a downtime tracking event frame.  You will practice using formula, table lookup and PI point data references to calculate the heat transfer coefficient of the heat exchanger.  You will also build an event frame generation analysis to create event frames tracking the downtime on your heat exchanger element.

This tutorial is relatively short (about a half day to complete) and is a great way to practice many of the functionalities PI AF has to offer.

This attached zip file contains:

  • A PDF guide with instructions to complete the exercise
  • A completed heat exchanger example database

Use of this kit is built for the minimum software versions:

  • PI Data Archive 2012
  • PI AF Server 2016
  • PI Analysis Service 2016

The exercise can be completed without PI Analytics and on earlier versions of PI AF Server, however the instructions are built for 2016 so the terminology may differ.  E.g. "StartTrigger1" vs. "StartTrigger" as PI Analysis Service 2016 now supports multiple start triggers.
