We set out to offer the truck drivers a new driving experience that would both be a tool for optimizing performance and also keeping the drivers actively engaged in the act of driving.
We wanted to make a game out of the driving experience. The driver would be shown optimal driving speed for their route. They would see a map of their route, shown the optimal speed in comparison to their current speed.
Drivers would be able to report current track conditions by clicking an icon on their device, marking their current location with various hazard icons while informing maintenance crews of road conditions.
Drivers receive a score based on their adherence to speed recommendations, reporting of road hazards and their maximizing loads.
The application is web based and will display the various user views in any web capable device. Views include a driver interface, a site supervisor interface and a maintenance interface.
Driver statistics can be displayed in a common area such as a lunch room to encourage competition between drivers.
This competition between drivers will encourage adherence to prescribed loads, speeds and improve feedback from drivers to maintenance personnel.
