TR1.a Dynamic Trend

Given a target AF element, generate a trend in PI Vison that contains all the attributes under a given attribute category within the target element.

Use case

At each compressor station there could be multiple pipelines entering and exiting the station. For each line, there may be pressure transmitters measuring the gas pressure inside the line. All pipeline pressure readings at a facility shall be displayed on a single trend on the Compression Station Level screen.

AF setup

The compressor station elements are derived from the CompressionStation AF Element Template. All station line pressure readings are brought in AF as attributes using the PI Point data reference. All these attributes are under the LinePressure attribute category within the station element. Since each facility has a different set of line pressures, these attributes cannot be part of the AF element template and they are added individually for each facility by extending the template.



TR1.b Collection of Dynamic Trends

Given a target AF element, generate a collection of dynamic trends in PI Vision. The dynamic trends shall be generated based on children elements of the target for given criteria (i.e. element template or element category). Each dynamic trend shall contain all attributes under a given attribute category. The attribute category shall be the same for all the dynamic trends. (for more information on Dynamic Trends, see section TR.1.a)

Use Case

Compressor units are composed of several major pieces of equipment. All compression units have a Driver and a Gas Compressor; additionally, some units may have equipment such as Turbo Chargers, Gearboxes, etc. Each piece of equipment has a collection of child elements that are categorized as “Monitoring Modules”. These modules are areas of interest in applying anomaly detection to identify functional degradation. Examples of monitoring modules are Bearing Temperatures, Cooling & Lubrication, Bearing Vibration, etc.
Each Equipment element may have a different list of monitoring modules, based on the make/model, vintage, etc. Each monitoring module contains at least one attribute under the TriggerInput attribute category.

Given a piece of equipment, we want to generate a collection of trends, one trend for each monitoring module under the given equipment. Each trend shall contain all the attributes categorized as TriggerInput.

AF Setup

The compressor unit elements are derived from the CompressionUnit AF element template. Equipment elements are children of the compression unit. They are derived from the different element templates, based on the type of equipment.
Although each monitoring module is derived from a different element template, they are conceptually structured the same. For instance, all monitoring modules have attributes that are under the TriggerInput attribute category. All monitoring module elements are categorized as MonitoringModule elements.
