Hi PI Folks
I wanted to know what different types of file format a PI UFL interface can read and process, I am aware that it can process.txt,.csv(ascii).
Can anyone of you please provide the details?
Theoretically, the PI Interface For UFL can be used on any file format, but practically speaking, the PI Interface For UFL is best used on files that contain plain text. That includes TXT and CSV like you mentioned, but also HTML, XML, etc. The PI Connector For UFL even has special functions to handle CSV and JSON files specifically.
The file format is not super important, as long as you successfully generate an INI file that extracts the data that you need.
You can think of any file (text-based or not) as a sequence of characters. The file is broken up into lines based on New Line characters that you specify when you configure the PI Interface For UFL. The lines are read 1-by-1 in order, and for the first, and only the first, message section (in the INI file) whose filter the line satisfies, the code of that message section is executed.
Typically, if you can open the file with notepad and don't see any broken characters, then the PI UFL interface will be able to handle it. The structure of its content is more important though as Kenneth Barber said in the above.
According to the documentation, the PI UFL interface can read text from:
