There are several ways to get PI System events into a csv file. Given the size of your problem and frequency you may want to either write a short PI SDK application and schedule it to run once a week or use the piconfig utility in a .bat script file to do the job for you. The details and examples of using piconfig can be found in the PI Server Reference Guide. Here is a short example for your convenience:
@istru tag, starttime, endtime, count, mode
@ostr time, value
You can then save this into a text file and feed it to piconfig:
%PISERVER%\adm\piconfig < instructions.txt > outputValues.csv
where instructions.txt is the name of the file containig the instructions above.
Can you also pull data using a filter like you do with the PI datalink add-in? I want to query a batch data tag that has multiple events for only certain events and then export it into a CSV file similiarly. Is this possible?
piconfig cannot work as PI Datalink, it could only push all data into the .csv file. However, you could use excel VBA to filter this data as you want. Or, you could use PI SDK, as Ahmad mentioned, to do an simple application to retreive the filtered data.
