Join Development Support Engineer Daphne as she walks you through the basics of developing custom applications using the PI Web API. Learn how to use HTTP requests to access time series data from your PI Data Archive or asset and event frame information from your Asset Framework. The course also covers working with the PI Index Search Crawler and goes through two example applications, one in JavaScript and one in C#.

This course is for great for developers who would like to learn the different options and methods for working with the PI Web API and create their own application that will be useful in their day-to-day operations!

In order to follow along with the videos and complete the exercises, you will need:

  • PI System (running and collecting data with write access)
    • PI Data Archive
    • AF Server
  • PI Web API (admin access) and PI Index Search feature
  • Chrome and Fiddler
  • Basic knowledge of HTTP requests, as well as general programming skills in C# and/or JavaScript

The course is held over a 3 week period, however it only requires about 6 hours per week . These online courses are largely self-directed, so learners are able to set their own pace and allocate time as fits into their schedules. The only hard requirement is that the final project be completed on or before the end of the 3 week course period if you'd like to earn a certificate of completion.
