how can i give another user administrative privileges, i am the admins on the PI system and i need to give permission to another. how is this attained ??
This will depend slightly on how you currently have security configured in your PI System. The recommended approach would be to have a domain group which includes all of your PI System Administrators (yourself and your new colleague). Then, have a mapping for this PI System Administrators domain group to the built-in PI group "piadmins" (note this is different from the user piadmin). Once this mapping is place, anyone who is added to the domain group will automatically receive administrator permissions on the PI Data Archive (as long as the mapping remains in place).
For more information on security, I also recommend you take a look at the PI System Cyber Security guide as well as the Configuring PI Data Archive Security Discussion Forum online course, specifically the following videos:

There are three possible protocols for connecting to the PI Server. The preferred one is Windows Authentication.
For that, you should create a PI Mapping:
However, it may not be recommended to use piadmin on a PI Mapping, as this will give unrestricted access to the entire system.
It is safer to use a PI Identity on the Mapping and then grant the specific necessary permissions for that identity.
