Any idea to display PI Datalink value in PI Processbook ???
Why would the value need to be calculated in PI DataLink?
Move it over to AF and formula/analysis for calculation, and it's available directly in ProcessBook.
We might need more content to this. How would you want PI DataLink value in the PI ProcessBook? The Microsoft excel calculated value?
Thanks for the response @Asie, & @Ricky..The excel value is not calculated. Its a nominated value, a user inputs.
I've made a copy of this available here: <Edit: Link removed by moderator>
OSIsoft Developer Network Legacy content: Manual Data Entry Sheet updated for Excel with ribbons.
An alternative would be to use PI System Explorer with a PI Point attribute enabled for manual data entry.
There's also a PIEXAM32.XLS in %pihome%\excel\ you can try.
I am sorry but I had to remove the download link that you posted. We know you as a user who is helping other users with his experience and expertise. We really appreciate you are doing this.
The Manual Data Entry Sheet was previously hosted at OSIsoft Technical Support Download Center but I am not able to locate it anymore. I know that some content has been removed because it was considered outdated. I am however uncertain if the Manual Data Entry Sheet belongs to that group of outdated and removed content or if its unavailability is an issue with the Technical Support Download Center. However, please note that you are not allowed to re-distribute any content. If you cannot find a download, please ask and we can clarify why it is not available.
Tamunosoye Bill: You may want to look at alternative approaches like How to use PI Web API with VBA - Introduction or How to install AF Wrapper in ProcessBook. Using AF SDK methods from within VBA by creating a Wrapper as well works with Excel. The Manual Data Entry Sheet was using PI SDK which 1) is announced for deprecation and 2) does not allow to write against AF Attributes what's possible with both alternatives mentioned above.
A totally different approach could be using an Excel sheet as ODBC Data Source in Excel. There are several drawbacks like, every user must have the ODBC Data Source specified locally and using an Excel sheet as ODBC Data Source not performing very well.
Gregor Beck, the download is still available but I'm not shure whether this is the one that was updated (by an OSIsoft employee) to use with the Excel 2007 ribbon edition.
The one I have is updated to use with ribbons, and it works great. If you want to download it yourself to verify it please do so. It's one of the things we get requests for all the time actually.
I see. To include the DevNet results one has to modify the search from "Current Version" to "All Versions" or "Previous Versions". Good catch!
My concern was related to the re-distribution and I believe we should stick with the link to the "official" version.
The DevNet stuff was all user-provided anyways, so any modifications should be welcomed.
My concern is really why the newer ribbon-supporting Excel file isn't avaliable anymore. I'm pretty shure that was published as a blog post in the old vCampus forums, but I couldn't find it while searching
I agree the DevNet content is sample code and for sure intended for modifications or customizations if you like. You and all other users are welcome to post your own sample code and we suggest applying the Apache 2.0 license for this purpose. If your samples derive from another source, please consider referencing that resource within your distribution. When posting your own code samples, please avoid offering it as something like "OSIsoft Developer Network Legacy content: Manual Data Entry Sheet updated for Excel with ribbons." because this title indicates you are not the author but am re-distributing content.
You may agree that your post which I've removed the Link from, was looking as if you had redistributed the package originally offered through OSIsoft Technical Support Download Center. I understand now that this was not the case. Please be assured that I didn't try to be mean but had the best intention when removing the link.
