I download the kit to load our AF 2015 server, it reports some errors as I import from the full database. How can I get help to fix the issue ?
Thanks for trying out the PI Asset Based PI Example Kits, sorry to hear you are running into errors. We can certainly help.
You have two options:
1) You can contact OSIsoft Techsupport for direct assistance. Here's how to Contact Us.
2) You can create a thread on the PI Square Community and ask for assistance. In regards to this, I created PI Square Community Thread for you here: Installation problem with Asset Based PI Example Kit; import errors. If you subscribe to that thread, you'll find that other people in the PI Square Community are very helpful too.
Please let me know if I can assist you in any other way,
I would like to see the definition of CBM better defined.
Presentations I saw at the UC, CBM or Condition Based Maintenance included preventative maintenance and predictive analysis. These should be treated differently in a Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) program and need to be addressed with different solutions when discussing example kits.
I know there’s a lot of confusion about what constitutes CBM, and you are right - preventative maintenance is not the same thing as predictive/condition-based maintenance.
I took a quick look at our Pump CBM kit, and we mix preventative maintenance and predictive maintenance, showing both a usage-based analysis and a comparison (to expected performance) analysis. It’s a learning process for us too, and we’ve incorrectly used CBM as an umbrella term for both.
Another kit for CBM in currently in-progress, and it does focus only on predictive analyses. We’ll aim to make this distinction of preventative vs. predictive/condition-based clearer in the future.
Thanks for the discussion,
If there is anything I can do to help with any maintenance or reliability activities please let me know.
At the UC I spoke with Jarita about starting a Maintenance and Reliability group and hope to get that going soon as a place for discussions on how PI can support and benefit a TPM or RCM program.
I actually have worked with Gopal for many years on this topic and he and I presented at the IBM Pulse several years ago on interfacing PI to Maximo.
I will warn you, I do tend to get worked up (in a good way :-) ) when talking about using PI Data in a maintenance and reliability program, but want to get more involved in this area as I feel there is a large gap and huge opportunity area in the majority of maintenance and reliability programs.
Actually - you could be of help right now Brian Deslatte is the Field Service Engineer working on the next kit for CBM. We know we have the AF stuff down, but it would be great to have your feedback on the kit from the CBM side. Would you be available to take a look at the kit before we share it with the community? We're pretty close to having the pieces put together, possibly as early as next week.
yes, I would be happy to review it. let me know a time that works for you and we can try and set something up.
Hi Scott - I'll let Brian Deslatte take it over from here! He'll reach out to you to discuss. Thanks again for your help!
Scott, I'm wrapping up a draft document and the AF structure today. How about I first shoot you that when done, let you review and then we can get together? We really appreciate your help on this.
Works for me.
Please don't shoot Scott. He's a friendly. :-)
I would like to see an asset based example kit created for a batch process showing downtime tracking.
Hey Steve, thanks for the comment. You may want to check out the Well Downtime Tracking kit. Asset Based PI Example Kit for Oil & Gas Well Downtime Tracking
While it's not batch manufacturing, it does provide examples of how to do downtime tracking.
