    Tag configuration for excel

    Rudan

I need to export data from excel to PI. What will be the point source when configuring tags in PI?

          Hi August,

If you are configuring tags for manual input, PointSource can be anything...let say="Manual_Input".

Unless if the tags get updated from interface, it has to be the same with /id parameter on your Interface batch file.

          Regards,

            Hi August,

Depending on which interface you are using to perform the data export into PI, all the PI tags that belong to that interface must use a point-source string as the value for the Point Source attribute. You can check all the used Point Source value using PI System Management Tool (PI SMT).

For example, if you are using UFL (Universal File  and Steam Loading) interface to export data from Excel into PI, the point source used to configure the PI tag should be correspond to the value of the attribute /PS in the interface batch file. You can also watch how to configure UFL tag in this video.

            Hope this helps.

                Hi thanks,

Am actually having a play with excel example in PIPC\excel. It writes data to PI but am not getting “Read back from Pi” values. Says “No Events Found”

                    Hi August,

                    Thanks for the information provided.

The message "No Events Found" means there is no archived value at the time specified in the "Timestamp" field. Please check that you have an archived value at that time. I believe you specify a relative time for the "Timestamp" field, for example, * (current time).

That sample worksheet uses PI Datalink functions to write to PI. Do make sure that you have given write and read permissions (either through a trust or mapping) to the client machine where you running the spreadsheet for the PI point that you are trying to write to. You can also check the PI Data Archive logs to see if there are any access denied messages.
