Native interfaces or OPC DA?

Hello,

we are about to roll out PI on a larger scale after a test period.

So far, we have 5 data sources set up with OPC DA communication to one PI OPC Interface instance, and we use Matrikon OPC Tunneler to secure the connnections. A full roll-out will include about 110 data sources, including primarily ABB 800xA, Siemens WinCC, Campbell Loggernet and SKF @ptitude systems. For the latter, there is no native interface provided by OSIsoft.

Would your general recommendation be to use native interfaces whenever possible, or standardise on OPC DA Communication?

Any experiences with Matrikon vs. Softing for OPC tunneling?

Regards,
Tomas
