Anyone have experience getting Accelrys Pipeline Pilot to access data in PI?
After a couple escalations with Biovia (Pipeline Pilot) support, they have determined that the PI ODBC and JDBC Drivers are incompatible with its current product version. We are going to connect the database direct to PI via OLED (likely) instead of using Pipeline as an intermediary.
There are a few tech support calls that reference Accelrys Pipeline Pilot.
One call references using OLEDB Provider - specifically the were having a little difficulty with system states like "Not Connect" in their float tag queries so they had to alter the query a little to exclude those types of events
Another call references OLEDB and just has a couple nuances with the OLEDB provider that the TS engineer helped clean up
The third case references using ODBC
So there are a couple companies out there doing this with the OLEDB and ODBC drivers - but that's about as much as I can tell you... as I personally have not worked with Accelrys Pipeline Pilot
Very helpful!!!! Will use this information internally.
I'm currently attempting to get a connection going between PI and Pipeline Pilot. Our initial plan was to utilize the PI ODBC Drivers and we ran into some issues. The Pipeline Pilot support branch determined that the ODBC driver was not compatible with their software and reccomended we use the PI JDBC drivers instead. We are currently having issues getting Pipeline Pilot to accept the PI JDBC driver (it gives an error message which pertains to the program having an issue finding the associated JDBC .DLL file.
We've gotten both ODBC and JDBC connections to successfully connect and pull data from PI from the same server Pipeline Pilot is located on using other programs like Access and DBAnalyzer. So most signs are pointing to the issue being with the Pipeline Pilot program.
I believe this is a problem we can get solved but be a bit wary as you may run into similar trouble.
I'll update this if we can get it figured out.
Any luck getting this working? A trainer from Pipeline said to use ODBC but I think they were giving us a generic answer.
Unfortunately not as of yet. I should have an update in another week or so.
Thank you very much for sharing the end of your struggle. I've been working on this for Sean Dippold and we've been struggling as well, although I thought we were dealing more with authentication issues. This could certainly be our issue.
Do you have a Biovia contact name or KBA number (etc) you could share to get more information about how the incompatibility was determined? It'd be great to give our Pipeline team to understand the gap.
We developed a solution using the Web API. Let me know if you are interested.
