From the error message, it sounds like one of the PI Identities specified in your module security does not have a PI Mapping to a Windows security principal.   You may have noticed that while the module database uses PI Identities to provide access, PI AF uses Windows security.  In order to synchronize the two databases, AF Link will use your PI Mappings to "translate" between the security configurations.  Any PI Identity in your module database will need a mapping in order for the modules to sync correctly to AF.

The PI SMT AF Link plugin (previously called MDB to AF Synchronization) will provide you with a security report that highlights any missing mappings or other security conflicts.  Check out View the security synchronization report on LiveLibrary for instructions on how to access the report.

              Hi Johnson,

please find below screen shot from AF to MDB Syncroniztion. here i found there is no conflicts and also the main thing is "AF Information" tab in screen shot is not having any details of AF server and DB. So, could you please help me out here with steps in doing resync the same.

                  Hi Ashwin,

Can you check the PI Identities that needs mapping? To determine what PI Identities needs mapping on the PI Data Archive, please open SMT, connect to the PI Server with the MDB issue, navigate to Security > Database Security, and review the PI Identities listed for PIModules (see below, both piadmin and piadmins need to have a mapping on the PI Data Archive). All these PI Identities except PIWorld need to have a mapping. Please go over to the Security > Mappings & Trusts, and check in the Mappings tab that the PI Identities all have mappings. If there is any without a mapping, then please add one to it.

Let us know how this goes.

                  Cheers,

                  William

please find below screen shot of Database security. and everything is ok in mappings as well.

but still we are facing this issue

may be i will get some more troubleshooting steps by this from you all.

                          Hi Ashwin,

This article 21543OSI8 indicates that all PI Identities, PI Users and PI Groups on a PI Module and PI Module DB Security must have a mapping to Windows principal to edit the module security. You will need to also check the modules in your MDB (excluding %OSI, %OSI_MCN and %OSI_ManagedPI). It is easiest to check using Module Database Builder add-in in Excel. If you do not yet have the MDB Builder add-in for Excel enabled, the MDB Builder is shipped with PI SMT so install SMT if you have not, and add the addin to Excel: File > Options > Add-Ins > Manage: Excel Add-ins “Go…” > Browse.. > “C:\Program Files (x86)\PIPC\MDBBuilder\MDBBuilder.xla

Select the modules that are not under %OSI, and check the "ModuleSecurity" to check for any PI Identities that is not mapped to a Windows account in the PI Server Mapping. As mentioned in the article, piadmin and piworld does not need mapping, all others, including piadmins (with the S), requires a windows mapping to it.

If you still have issue resolve this, it would be best to give TechSupport a call so someone can check your settings directly and resolve this quickly.

                          Cheers,

                          William
