My name is Josh. I am a MIS junior engineer just getting started in the automation industry. Since I'm just learning about automation and OSI PI I'm hoping to learn the fundamentals of PI.
I did have a question too. I tried to register for the online VLE, but the promo code that I was sent does not work. Has anyone else had this issue?
Thanks and I look forward to working with everyone for the next couple weeks.
My name is Rob Niklas. I am a maintenance Engineer at NCSU. I'm responsible for the maintaining our DCS (Distributed Control System) which is an ABB 800xA system. I also maintain stand alone equipment with various controllers from different manufacturers (Allen Bradley, Delta V, Sartorius). We Are in the process of upgrading our DCS and we are going to incorporate OSI PI into the upgrade. The intention is to give students and academia access to process utilities and process equipment data with out jeopardizing the security and safety of the equipment and personal operating it.
Welcome to the course! I am very excited that you are using the PI System to give visibility to the students at NCSU. I hope that you also find that it provides benefits that go above and beyond the capabilities of your DCS.
This is actually the forum for the course that happened back in August. David Wang is leading the current (November) session. In order to keep everything in one place, I'd recommend you post in the following discussions going forward.
- Configuring a Simple PI System Online Course November 2015 Run - Introduce Yourself
- Configuring a Simple PI System Online Course November 2015 Run - Videos, Exercises, and Final Project Discussion
I hope you enjoy the course!!! Please feel free to reach out to me if there's anything I can help you with!
