If you are writing to a numeric tag/attribute (e.g integer, float), the double quotes around the number are not needed (as specified in the example in the reference help file). If you are, however, writing to a digital/string tag, you will need to put double quotes around the value.
Example payload for the POST request writing to the digital tag BA:Active.1
Did you run into issues without the double quotes?
Yes. I tried to write multiple tags which are in type "Float32" and found that double quotes are needed.

Today I tried again for adding and removing the double quotes in coding and found that both can successfully insert the numerical values.
Thank you all for your attention and please ignore my previous claim that double quotes are needed for numerical values.
