I got this error while using tree view on coresight (even if it always works days before):
Hi Davide, does the error only happen on this page, multiple pages, or all pages? The error messages were complaining being unable to connect remote servers. Could you open the PI Coresight Admin page to make sure all connections are good. The URL should 10.2.82.11/coresight/admin
The error indicates issue with crawler/index files. Most likely, we'll have to rebuild the index.
What version of PI WebAPI is installed (check in appwiz.cpl)? I strongly recommend using PI WebAPI 2015 R2.
Can you go to https://10.2.82.11/piwebapi/admin/search/database.html and post a screenshot?
It would also be a good idea to check the OSIsoft-PISystemSearch Event Logs for any errors or warnings.
here the screenshot you asked:
if I try to rebuild, I get the error message in the image.
Can you try:
1. Stop the PI Web API and Index Crawler services
2. Delete the file 'C:\ProgramData\OSIsoft\WebAPI\Search\Index\write.lock'
3. Restart the PI Web API and Index Crawler
What's the version of PI Web API and Coresight you are using? It seems a 2014 issue. Upgrade should fix it as well.
I try the way you show me but it doesn't fix the problem.
I have PI web api 2014 R2 and Coresight 2014, but it always works. Only this last days I got problems.
I'll have to ask for upgrade all, I'm not sure my client let me upgrade the environment
Hi Davide, after you deleted the write.lock file and restarted the services, did you still get the same error when attempting to rebuild the index? The messages in the event log should give us more information.
If you'd like, we can create a Tech Support case to assist your troubleshooting in a remote session.
Davide, please upgrade to PI WebAPI 2015 R2. It fixes many bugs since PI WebAPI 2014 R2 .. maybe you've not even noticed some bugs yet.
However, look at your screenshot - last crawl time is almost two weeks old - in other words, crawler has been in a bad state for that long.
Wiping out the .lock file will help (as Victor suggested), but please do upgrade in order to avoid this (and many more) bug(s).Check the release notes of PI WebAPI 2015 if you're interested in details.
Hi Victor and Lubos,
thank you both. I upgraded to PI WebAPI 2015 R2, restart the server and everything starts working again.
Good news, thanks for the update Davide.
