How to batch rename Pitags in pdi files. By setting PB2TagResolution=0 in procbook.ini works well for displays but for trends it doesn't work. Can you please a solution to this issue ?
For batch processing PDI files i typically use Excel. Create a list of your .PDI files and loop through the files in VBA. Use the PIApplication object, open the display (with macros turned-off).
Or if the number of displays is low enough, just do it manually. 2 minutes * 60 displays is just 2 hours. Difficult to code against that time unless you already have some code available.
Thank you for your quick response. I really appreciate if you can quote a sample VB code to open Pdi file using piapplication object and rename the pitags to avoid me reinventing the wheel of using piapplicaiton objects.
thank you in advance for your assistance.
You could try using the PB Support tool to rename PITags in your PDI File.
I'm looking for some code, but i forgot about another option. OSIsoft has a tool called the PI ProcessBook Support Tool that should accomplish what you need.
This tool allows you to "find & replace" objects (Tag Names and/or Server names) in the ProcessBook display file.
You can download it here: https://techsupport.osisoft.com/Downloads/File/196d15d9-3240-4431-9be4-2c18fe855fa6
