Create a new version of Element using PI Web API

      Hello,

I am trying to automatically create a new version every time a static Attribute is changed.

I was wondering if there is any way to create a new version of Element using PI Web API. Unfortunately I couldn't find any reference how to do it, only how to do it using AF SDK API.

      Best regards,

      Dawid

What kind of change are you doing on the attribute?

If you just change the value, making this a configuration attribute ensures a checkin is required at least.

Side note: i have yet to find a good scenario for versioning of elements. Yes, i've seen it work very well at e.g. Product Data management systems, but that comes with a high level of functional and technical complexity.

Nope, you can't do that via PI Web API.

If your static attribute was update with a string tag configured, then that might be enough to satisfy a new version? i.e. The historical changes to the Type Of Meter data signify a change in version. Make it a configuration item and enable AF Audit Trail.

Does the change in the type of meter need to add/remove attributes?
