My PI services for random data generation are only recording 1 data point per day. They used to generate multiple per minute. What is wrong?
Are you referring to the PI Random Interface, or some custom "PI service"? I would start by checking the point configurations, specifically the exception/compression settings, as well as the scan class (location 4) frequency. If possible, could you post the point configurations?
Gavin, thank you for your response. You are correct. I am referring to the PI Random Simulator and PI Ramp Soak. Can you recommend how to best check the configurations. I am a developer and I work primarily with the PI-SDK and the AF-SDK. Once the PI server was up and running it has sort of been treated as a black box. I am working on learning the system better but it is so vast that sometimes it is hard to know where to start.
Do you have the PI System Management Tools installed? If so you can open this and connect to the PI Data Archive server > Points > Point Builder > via the menu at the top you can click 'Search' and find the points. The tabs down the bottom will show the tag configurations. Check the Compression and Location4 settings (the scan classes are in the interface bat files located in the ..\pipc\interfaces folder on the PI Data Archive server - location4=2 means the second listed scan class in the bat file).
Via the Services on the PI Data Archive server you can restart the PI Ramp Soak Simulator and the PI Random Simulator. Then use the PI System Management Tools > connect to the PI Data Archive server > Operation > Message Logs > change the End Time from *-5m to something like *-15m > click on the magnifying glass at the top to bring in the messages.
If you would like someone from TechSupport to look at the system can you please ring in during your work hours:(01) 510-297-5828
Stephen provided some good suggestions for getting the point configurations.
I just also wanted to make sure this isn't some kind of other issue, like events not archiving (which may appear as one event, since the only available recent event is the snapshot). How are you determining that there is only one event per day? Is this event always at the same time of day? If you query the archive data for the points going back a week, do you see seven events (one per day)?
The issue has been resolved. There was a problem with the license file. Thanks for the replies.
