How to connect to multiple PI Server in one process or in one OS using utility calls (piut_xxx calls) ? Thanks.
Hello and welcome Fred
We do not support PI API through the forums. Please allow me to refer to Q7 of our Frequently Asked Questions.
What's the development tool / development environment you plan to use. Are those multiple PI Servers are member of the same PI Collective or do you plan connecting multiple independent PI Systems at the same time? Are you plan to read or as well to write data?
Please feel encouraged to share additional information about the application you plan to develop because this will enable community members to share their experience and suggest what Developer Technology might be a good choice.
I want to use C++ on Win/Linux. I'm not sure the multiple PI Servers belong to the same PI Collective or independent ( may be check later) , and just plan to read.
Well C++ isn't impossible but I wouldn't consider it the best choice with today supported Developer Technologies.
If you like to be platform independent, we recommend using PI Web API.
AF SDK is the managed code recommendation.
PI JDBC could be an option for Windows and Linux. Please note PI JDBC 2015 is only available for Windows but PI JDBC 2016 which is supposed being released soon will again be available for Linux and Windows.
