I am reworking some old Excel spreadsheets that used the older version of PI API calls with the newest version and I need to know what the new function is that will pull all Aliases for a Unit. (the replacement for piba_getaliaswunit function)
As far as I know, piba_getaliaswunit is still a valid function in the latest version of PI API. Are you getting some kind of error code when you call it? Or are you actually asking about a PISDK equivalent?
I am replacing all the PI API code. I have removed the API declarations and I have added the PI DLLs as references. Am I just missing a project reference if I am getting an error that the function is undefined or unknown?
Which PI DLLs are you adding as references? By "replacing all the PI API code", do you mean you are transitioning to using PISDK? With PISDK you should be able to get all the aliases associated with a PI Unit by first getting the corresponding PI Module, then the module has a PIAliases collection as a property.
Yes I am trying to change my VBA code from PI API to PISDK. Do you have any sample code to instantiate a PiModule object have it load it based on a unit search so I can get the aliases from the alias list? As you can tell I am new to PI development. Thanks.
Best place to find these type of code examples is in the PI-SDK Programming Reference documentation, located in a help file called pisdk.chm. If you're not already familiar with it, this file can be found on your computer in your %PIHOME%\help directory. This file has many VB/VBA code examples of using the various PI-SDK objects and their methods and properties.
