    How to Set a Digital PE Tag to Stepped?

    calmandrysdale

      Hi all,

      I have a performance equation tag which calculates out a 1 or a 0 value. It is a digital tag. I can't work out why this can't be set to stepped? (It's greyed out).

      When i trend it it looks silly and would make more sense a step tag.

      Any suggestions as to how to make a PE tag stepped?

      Or any explanations as to why stepped is greyed out?

      Thanks!

      The Performance Equation is configured as follows;

          As it is a digital tag, it is automatically rendered as a step and cannot be changed to be otherwise. (The GUI could better reflect this fact though..)

          And in PSE, digital tags should be rendered as a usual step plot, I am unsure why it isn't in your case.. How does it appear in other client tools such as ProcessBook?

            Hi Calman,

            Jerome Lefebvre  gave the right answer in that a digital tag is automatically stepped, and therefore its Step setting in PI-SMT is greyed out to reflect you cannot change it.

            Like Jerome, I am curious as to why it wasn't being stepped in your trend.  To repeat Jerome's question, how does it appear in other client tools such as ProcessBook?  What visualization tool were you using to produce the trend in your original post?

            Regards,
