Hi just wondering if anyone has managed to get PI Coresight 2016 working on a smart TV? I cant seemed to get it to work
Coresight 2016's functionality is dependent on the web browser. Coresight 2016 requires you to have a browser that is compatible with HTML5. HTML5 is standard for all web browsers. I think as a first step, we should check what kind of web browser you are you using, what version of the web browser you are using and whether or not it supports HTML5.
When you state that you are having some configuration issues, would it be possible to describe what you are seeing and/or provide a screenshot of the Coresight Website when you try to browse to it?
Thanks for your response. I believe the web browser is a light version of Google Chrome which is used specifically for smart TVs (will find out the exact model of TV and browser version). I did a test on the smart tv using the following website, https://html5test.com/ to check it was compatible with HTML 5 and it all appeared ok.
I am not sure if the issue is related to the authentication we have on our web server upon which coresight resides. Any other devices such as a mobile, tablet or PC we get prompted for our username and password before being directed to Coresight, however, on the Smart TV we are not even being prompted for this and the webpage just comes back saying its timed out trying to find the website, which we know is correct. I am therefore wondering if its timing out because we aren’t able to enter any authentication as we are not being prompted to do so. I have looked at the TV settings and the Pop-up blocker is disabled so don’t believe this is the issue. Therefore just wondering if any has had any success getting PI coresight on a Smart TV and if so what model of TV and also do they have to authenticate first?
This might be a dumb question, but is the smart tv connected to the domain/network in which coresight is installed? It could be that the browser used by the smart tv simply is unable to pass credential. I would look into if there are any other browser solutions that you can download onto the smart tv to see if they might be more compatible. But yes, knowing the make and model of the tv itself can be helpful in determining a solution.
