How do I change the underlying Pi server in AF Explorer?
not sure what you mean by
...underlying Pi server...
In PI System Explorer you can change the Server in the File>Database dialog.
What I meant was how can I change the PI server that AF data base is talking.
Another question. We just had a strange problem with AF Explorer. When we fired AF Explorer from machine A, everything is OK. But on machine B we did not see any PI server connection. There was error message that said, unable to load PI Plug in. Problem was resolved when we copied OSIsot.AF.Asset.DataReference.Formula.dll and OSIsoft.AF.Asset.DataReference.PIPoint.dll to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\OSIsoft\AF folder on machine B. But we don't have these dlls anywehre on the machine A, and it does not cause any Pi server issue.
Are you using AF 1.3?
Essentially AF talks to PI servers based on the Data References, a Data Reference configuration string holds the PI server where to retrieve data from (in the case of the OSI PI Point DR). To change PI servers you update your configuration strings - hopefully via your Element Templates rather than individual elements.
