How can trends be configured so that all y-axis line up and trends are not compressed due to different legend sizes? When using a few trends below eachother, I would like the axes to line up with eachother.
I guess you've already set the axis ranges manually? If not, that's the first step. (Make sure you do it for all data sources per trend)
If the legends are varying in size, just "move" them outside the trend object to solve that problem. Yes, it takes a small bit of effort while designing the display but at least the outcome will look nice (Disable legends and other unneccessary stuff, create a rectangle filled with the same background color as your trend and design your legend manually)
Asle's answer is correct. I've included some screenshots of what he means below.
You can scale the y axis manually - just select "Single Scale" and enter the values you would like, as below:
To get the legends to line up with tag names of different lengths, you can get rid of the legend and tag descriptions entirely by unckecking Tag Name, Description, Value, and Engineering Units in Display Format as follows:
You can then add a rectangle with the same color as the trend background to the right of the trend, and place a value object on top of it to create your own legend. You will end up with something that looks like this:
