Is it possible in Coresight to add a symbol with the same format as the value symbol except with the maximum over the chosen time period rather than the current value?
if so, what would be the best way to accomplish this?
Alternatively, you can create an AF attribute or PE tag to capture the tag's maximum over - let's say, the last 4 hours (please note, you will need to use Time Range Override as the value retrieval method in this case). And then you can drop it as a value symbol on the canvas. The downside of doing so is, in order to show the timestamp of the maximum, you will have to use a separate AF attribute or PE tag. Of course, you can group these 2 symbols and configure their appearance to make them look like one.
Having that said, it just occurred to me that you could also use an analysis to combine the maximum value and its timestamp into 1 string. That would also eliminate the step to create a second attribute for the timestamp specifically.
Can you provide a little clarification for your request? Are you trying to configure the value symbol so that it shows the maximum value for the timerange specified from the Coresight Display (default 8 hours). If you change the timerange to be say 5 hours, you want the maximum for those 5 hours?
Does the symbol have to be a value symbol? Using the table symbol, you can get what you are after and any additional pieces of statistics as well:
Let me know if the table function is a better option for you.
I currently am using table symbol but I'd prefer it to be similar to the value symbol where it doesn't have the column labels and I can change the appearance with a multistate configuration.
Unfortunately, natively Coresight does not have the ability to do that yet.
If this is a pressing issue, you can use the extensibility of Coresight 2016 to create your own value object to determine the max of the timerange.
I can see this as a very useful feature and would also recommend creating a UserVoice Entry for this option using the feedback function on the Coresight 2016 display.
Thanks for the reply, I think I will try to make something in extensibility, I'll post it here when finished
