I'm working as a contractor for a company. This company is trying to integrate a new equipment to the PI System. We are going to use the PI OPC interface to collect values from the process parameters and the PI RDBMS interface to collect the alarms and events. In addition, we want to be able to read the Batch ID, but it is not in the PLC nor the Data Base. It is located in a folder in D:\Batch\. This location contains other sub-folders named <BatchID> which contains a .dat file that contains the batch info we want to read (Start/End Time, Batch Name, etc). Every time a new batch runs, a new sub-folder is created with the .dat file.

The files structure is like this:

  • D:
    • Batch
      • BatchID#1
        • .dat
      • BatchID#2
        • .dat
      • etc.
      • BatchID#100
        • .dat

This been said, what interface can I use to collect the Batch info data which is in the .dat files?
