Which AF-client-installation package do I need to get "Notifications"and "Analytics" on my client computer.
I am using AF 2016R2
You cannot use the PI AF Services install kit to modify the AF Client installation on the client machine. Instead, for including the Management Plug-In you would need to change the existing AF Client installation. For doing this, go to Control Panel > Programs and Features and use the Change option on PI AF Client 2016 R2 SP1 and select the Management Plug-In to be included:
There are separate install packages for Notifications and Analytics: These are PI Analysis Service 2016 R2 Install Kit and PI Notifications Service 2016 R2 Install Kit.
You can also check the Live Library on the procedure and components required on a client machine:
For 2016R2 these are different:
The Analysis Management plugin is not installed by default in the AF client install kit, but it is in the Server and Analysis service install kits:: https://livelibrary.osisoft.com/LiveLibrary/content/en/server-v8/GUID-E0A7B595-1AF0-483E-9CDE-B6F3E0B0183E
For PI Notifications, the client is included in 2016R2. There is no more separate installation for that. It does require the installation of the Notifications Service though: https://livelibrary.osisoft.com/LiveLibrary/content/en/server-v8/GUID-D39B0F1D-0646-4C49-8732-9AFBB719AD30
I use the PI-AF-Services-2016R2 to upgrade AF successfull
Then I used PI-AF_Client-2016-R2-SP1 to upgrade the client-side: No notification/analytics installed.
When I run the PI-AF-Services-2016R2 on the client the installer complains about wrong version when I check the management-option: client is now 220.127.116.1101, but should be the 18.104.22.16859 (version of the server)
THis is very confusing...
Thanks Christine, this works...
Be very careful running the separate PI Notifications installer on a client machine. It's easy to leave the "scheduler" option checked and install a Notification Scheduler on a client machine, which will disable the "real" / existing Notifications Scheduler since there can only be one scheduler per AF server. Do the custom install and read the on screen prompts carefully.
This one should work for you: Request Rejected .
PI AF Client 2016 R2 SP1 Install Kit
In addition to Christine's response: this is only sufficient if you have the Analytics and Notifications services already installed on your AF server. That is typically the case if you used the integrated install kit: Request Rejected
Both the Analytics and Notifications clients are included with the standard AF 2016 R2 client installation. The only optional client feature is the "Management Plugin". If you select an element in PI System Explorer there should be an "Analyses" and a "Notification Rules" tab. That is where you would configure those items.
