AF connection might fail when server name can't be resolved (despite IP configuration)!

Hello all!

In my scenario, PI Clients can't access PI Archive neither PI AF via their names. The network can't resolve them.

So, we have configured connections with IP addresses.

Most tools work properly, but PI System Explorer crashes whenever I try to use the Analyses tab for any element.

For the error message ("Unknown host"), I figure Analyses client is trying to reach out the AF server by name, instead of IP.

When we add a Asset server using its IP, connection manager automatically gets and sets server name, as we can see below:

It seems that most tools can use the "Host" entry for connection, but Analyses doesn't.

Another issue I've noticed is in ProcessBook's "AF Browser". Although I am successfully connected to AF:

I can't find my database in AF Browser:

Both issues can be resolved by adding an entry to machine's hosts file

10.10.10.22       000-PIAF-001

I don't know if other tools have similar behavior. These are the two cases I've run into.

So, although there is a simple workaround for the issue, I thought of bringing that up.

Maybe it is a known issue, maybe not...
