Is there a comprehensive list of name:value pairs for all the different objects in AF that the PI WebAPI can POST to?
I noticed in Exercise 2 when trying to create the attributetemplates the value type does not show up in the help file or when you list an attribute template out in PSE. When you create the attribute template the default appears to be double.
Looks like part of the issue is running PI Web API 2014 R2. It does not look like the "Type" shows up in the sample request and may not be supported in 2014 R2. I will upgrade to 2016 R2 to see if this resolves the issue.
That said, is there a comprehensive list of name:value pairs for each object that the PI Web API can use the http POST verb against? The sample JSON responses do not appear to have all the name:value pairs listed.
Hi Brad, I wish I had a more favorable answer for you, but the sample request is the only thing PI Web API documentation can offer now. I created an enhancement request for this at our user voice website, feel free to go there and vote. I'll see what I can do internally.
In the meantime, here are a couple of ideas that might be helpful:
-Checking the name value pairs of an object by drilling down to it from the PI Web API home page.
-Checking in the AF SDK corresponding class if the property of interest is read-only or not and what kind of default value it has. For example, in this particular case, check out the AFAttributeTemplate class.
Note that property naming in AF SDK and PI Web API can be slightly different.
This workaround is certainly not great, but I hope it will help in the meantime. Feel free to post any specific questions in the RESTful PI System Access.
