I am wondering whether I can use the ability and power of ACE for AF Analysis as well as Module Database.
I read the post you have in 2008 and that is why I made this post to hear back how far you are from that.
Well the first part of the answer is that yes, you can use AF SDK to access AF objects in PI ACE calculations, just as you can use any other .NET or COM library. But you may want to wait a bit before trying to implement this. The next release of PI Server (PI 3.5) will provide direct ModuleDB to AF compatibility. This will mean that the structural information for ACE calculations will be stored in AF. From the engineering plan on the Tech Support website, PI Server 3.5 (EAM - Enterprise Asset Management) is slated for first quarter or 2010. It will provide "ModuleDB to AF Compatibility" meaning that all ModuleDB applications become AF-aware and that AF becomes the single system of record for Asset Data.
However, there is no current plan for PI ACE to handle AF Analyses directly since they are not supported in AF 2.1 - they are planned for AF 2.2 (slated for second quarter of 2010). See this other discussion thread for more info on the topic.
