Is it possible to add a PI Trend to a .net application? My background was using the api interface and excel. I am now using .net and C#.
When you say PI trace, I assume you mean a "PI Trend Control", correct?
If that's the case, then you need to know that the Trend control we use for PI ProcessBook and PI DataLink isn't exactly public, i.e. you cannot use it in a standalone fashion in your own applications. That said, there are a few different options you might want to look into, depending on what your needs are:

Should you decide to go the Microsoft Chart Control route, I would recommend you take a look at this website. It allows you to download the actual controls (see the "Home" tab) and a really neat set of samples (under the "Download" tab).

In the last few years, has there been any addition to the PI suite that would allow a .NET developer to embed a PI Trend Display into a .NET application, other than these options? The graph implementations in ProcessBook are excellent, but the VBA model is a little confining.
