For ex, if i give the path as W2K3X32STIAPP1\PIDB\OSIsoft , it should display the children of OSISoft, and if you give the path as W2K3X32STIAPP1\PIDB\OSIsoft\PIServers\PMUS\ it should display the children of PMUS.
This is for using PI Web services in getPIOArchiveData
From what I know, the current version of PI Web Services exposes the value of AF Attributes using GetPIArchiveData and GetPISummaryData methods by taking in the full path to the attribute. There are not methods that support operations like searching for AF Elements or getting child elements given the path of the parent element yet.
As Han Yong pointed out, the current version of PI Web Services does not support AF Search capabilities; rest assured this is definitely something we want to implement in a subsequent version. I kindly invite you to read [DEAD LINK] this discussion thread, where I provided an answer with regards to implementing AF Search in PI Web Services, which also endorses Han Yong's suggestion to wrap some PI OLEDB Enterprise (or AF SDK) capabilities in your own custom Web service.
