    MultiStates and Named Sets

It seems that ProcessBook does not allow the use of strings in MultiStates which makes creating displays for a DeltaV system that primarily uses Named Sets allot more difficult.  Does anyone have a simple solution for handling this? One that non-technical people could implement?

At this point, we don't have any direct way to use strings in the Multistates. But, that is not the end of the road... you may consider using a performance equation (PE) tag for which the source tag contains the string. A simple example may look like this:

          If '<StringTag>' = "Shutdown" then 1 else 0.

Now, PE tag may get a 1 or 0. Based on these values you can go ahead and multistate using the PE tags.

          Hope this helps.
