    Trends position of tag legend

    manish_singh06

      Hi,

Is there any way in ProcessBook to change the position of legend (i.e. Tag Name, Tag Value etc)? We had one requirement that we need to display these information at the side of corresponding trend traces as shown in the attached screen shot.

          Hello Manish,

You can find the available options within the Define Trend dialog. Besides the default tab General, there is Display Format and Trace Format.

I however wouldn't know of any option to horizontally align the Tag description with the latest (right hand side) value of the belonging trace.

We did not put ProcessBook on Uservoice since we are no longer doing most enhancement requests, since CoreSight is the future of OSIsoft visualization.  Since we hope that eventually everyone will be switching to CoreSight, so it's a good idea to request any features you need on their Uservoice so that they will be there when you need them.

Don't worry, though, the ProcessBook team will still be around to support our existing customer base.  You may request enhancements through technical support, and we do consider them, but most are rejected unless it's relatively straightforward and a significant number of customers will benefit.  For example, something like this where we would have to change how trend elements are layed out is an example of a feature that is a larger amount of effort than what we would be willing to do.

                  Thank you David.

When we say that Core sight will be the future of OSIsoft visualization, will there be any migration utility developed to convert PB displays to Core sight native displays instead of hosting them on core sight as we do currently? Because hosting PB displays on core sight limits use of many important features like ER display, any custom script etc.

As per my understanding in present state of Core sight it is not possible to migrate even the native Core Sight displays developed on one instance to another instance of Core Sight. Is this correct and in coming core sight releases this feature will be implemented?

                  Regards,

                  Manish

The answer to all of the concerns you mentioned is yes.  Viewing ProcessBook displays in CoreSight was only a first step.  We plan to create a migration experience that makes it as easy as possible to move to CoreSight.  VBA and custom add-ins are a sticky point because it isn't possible to convert custom code.  However, our goal is that features that you used to need custom code for will become standard functionality in CoreSight, if feasible.

We know that CoreSight is not a complete replacement for ProcessBook (yet).  That's why we continue to support it and issue new versions.  Going forward, our aim is to create a modern visualization product without leaving any of our customers, who are currently using ProcessBook, behind.
