Default Write Mode

I'm really happy that the default write mode was changed from Insert to Replace in the latest release of PICC, but understand that it has caused an increase in the events written to the subscriber node as mentioned in Changes to Default Write Mode in PI Cloud Connect. Will there be another change in the May 22 release, and if so, what will it be? If the current state is what we should expect for the near future, can an expert explain what kind of behavior we should expect to see and how we could modify our configuration to reduce the number of events written while retaining the new Replace functionality?
