Format of AD contact name or alias in AF explorer

    Jesperoa

We have installed a new PreProduction environment and wants to export the configuration of AF from Production and imoport it into PreProduction.

There are some Notification rules sending e-mails to contact specified in our Active Directory.

The format of an AD contact searched in Production AF Explorer looks like the attched file 'Format Contact Prod.jpg'

The format of an AD contact searched in PreProduction AF Explorer looks like the attched file 'Format Contact PreProd.jpg'.

As you can see there is a difference between the two formats above 'Name' (Highlighted).

When importing the XML-file from the export, we get errors for every contact used in templates with Notification Rule template because the contact can't be found in PreProd searching the user xxxx_Email. It expects it to be in the format xxxxx - Email.

      Example of error:

Error occurred on line 358630, column 11, near 'AFNotificationRuleSubscriber' while processing Notification Rule Template 'WTGOfflineNotification' in Element Template 'WtgBaseGFS03':

Notification Contact Template 'JOVAN_Email' does not exist.  Cannot add Notification Rule Subscriber 'JOVAN_Email' to Notification Rule Template 'WTGOfflineNotification' in Element Template 'WtgBaseGFS03'.

How or where can this format be changed?

AF version is 2.8.5.7759 for both Prod and PreProd.

OS on Prod is Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard

OS on PreProd is Windows 2012 R2 Standard

          Hi Jesper,

I don't believe the formatting is the cause of your issue, though it is interesting that the format is different between two identical versions of PI System Explorer. I'm assuming Pre-Prod and Prod are in different domains? Are the contacts located in both DC if they are on different domains? Are they configured the same? Are the domains trusted or untrusted?

If they are in the same domain, are there more than 1 DC.

For the import issue, contacts are not exported with the Notification Rules or Notification Rule templates. You will need to use AFExport to export them. See David's answer on this post:

Export AF Contacts to Test System

          Hope this helps,

          Seb
