Performance expression - How to display another tag if one tag shows bad signal?

I apologize if this is the wrong category to ask a question for. I am very new to PI Processbook, and I'm looking to start learning how to use it effectively.

I have two questions, if anyone wouldn't mind helping me out.

1. For writing performance equations and expressions - how do I know the format? For example, if you want to take the square root of a value, how do I know that it is written as sqr(value)? is there a list somewhere of the definitions for each action, or is it based off some common code like C++ or java?

2. I am trying to display a value, but there are two redundant pressure transmitters. I would like to display 1 or the other if the other one went into bad signal. I was thinking I could write an expression using 'if', 'then' and, 'else' but I'm not sure where to start.
