I can easily connect to AF server which is in the same system.
But how do I connect to AF Server which is in some different Windows system?
Are there any specific settings I need to do on AF Server to allow connections from outside system?
do you mean that you would like to connect with PI System Explorer to the AF Server from a machine which is not the one where the AF Server itself has been installed?
If yes then, are this second machine in the same domain of the AF Server one?
In case of positive answer then you have to run the machine/PSE with a user that has rights on the AF Server .
Please let me know if this answers your question.
Thanks Robert for the quick reply.
My machine/PSE system does not have AF Server itself. Both machines are in different network and connected through the only internet. (Not in same domain)
if the domains are trusted between each other, the domain user you are using to access AF with PSE from the client machine should successfully connect.
If the domains are not trusted then you would need to use same user and same password as local account.
Where actually I should give username and password?
I am getting following options for connecting to new asset server:
I actually meant that being in two different domain which are not trusted you would need to have one local account on both the machines, with the same username and same password.
From where are you getting that Window in the screen shot? From the Client machine? Are the domain trusted?
If server is not in the same domain, i would request you to input IP address in the host name and click OK. Open PSE and select the server name (hostname) and click on ... which opens all AF servers configured. Right click the AF server you want to connect using Connect as where you can input user id and password. User id will be generally IP address\User id and password configured.
