What is the consequence of setting compmax to 0. does that turn off the setting?
As far as I can tell, setting CompMax=0 would result in no compression being performed. There is not formal documentation for this, but the logic is that every value coming in would then be greater than CompMax, and therefor would be archived. You can find the formal description of CompMax here: CompDev, CompDevPercent, CompMax, and CompMin
Note that there is a work item to limit setting CompMax below 1 since it does not really make sense to use this to limit compression. The preferred way of turning off compression would just be to set it to 'off'. Hopefully that helps!
Thanks for your comments. I also found that the official documentation does not go into that much detail.
I would like to point out this KB as it discusses the consequences of certain compression settings.
I would also like to ask why you would want to set the CompMax value to 0 as John pointed this setting doesn't really make sense.
I am not setting the CompMax to 0, I noticed on one of our Client sites that they had some of their tags setup with that setting.
So have been trying to tidy up their tag configuration.
Thanks for your Feedback
