    Hackathon at UC London - Vitens

      Vitens is the largest drinking water provider in the Netherlands. They serve 350 million cubic meters of water annually to 6 million customers over 50,000km of main pipes. At the next Hackathon at OSIsoft Users Conference in London you will have an opportunity to significantly improve water quality, service reliability, and overall customer experience of millions of customers through your innovation. The hackers will be provided with subject matter expertise and a large operational dataset; they will then have a day to team up with fellow hackers and innovate. The potential opportunities range from detecting, predicting, and preventing different aspects of a massive drinking water operations. Winners will be awarded prizes and acknowledged publicly.           Dear PI Geeks,

           

          We are very excited about our UC EMEA 2017 Programming Hackathon with the theme Innovation for better drinking water. We are moving forward with the preparation and are very happy about the collaboration with our Data Sponsor Vitens N.V. We are also very excited about a new coaching partner which we will introduce to Hackathon participants at the event.

           

          We highly recommend familiarizing yourself with the challenge by watching this video.

           

          If you plan to finish 3rd, 2nd or even 1st place, please make sure you reserve some space within your luggage. We couldn’t resist choosing some cool gadgets which we hope will be a surprising attraction the geek engineer inside you!

          Please see below for the criteria we will ask our judges to apply:

           

          • Creativity and Originality (5 points) -> How novel is your idea? Are there similar ideas in the market?
          • Potential Business Impact (5 points) -> How much business value could your creation bring to other businesses or individuals?
          • Technical Implementation (5 points) -> To what extent does the design take advantage of new technologies? How robust, secure, and scalable is the application?
          • Data Analysis and Insight (5 points) -> To what extent does the application reveal actionable insights from data? How does the application help users understand and find patterns in the data?
          • User Experience (5 points) -> To what extent is the application responsive, intuitive to use, and visually appealing?

           


           

          A Pitch Panel is scheduled for Day2

           

          The Pitch Panel is a business oriented session where the top teams present their work in the hackathon to a panel of business leaders from the Data Sponsor Vitens N.V. and OSIsoft. The goal is for the hackers to have a chance to show their work in a different environment more aligned with business visibility and opportunity. The business leaders can see the novel creations and decide if they like to pursue any of the hackers in a more advanced commercial capacity.
