PISDK Data.Summary: best way to check if there is no values in the interval without throwing exception

Using C# and PISDK, I try to get the total for a time interval using Data.Summary. When there is no data in the interval, Data.Summary throws a CALCFAILED Exception which is time consuming. As we try to get data from multiples points this slows down our treatment.

Which could be the best way to check if there is any data in the interval before calling Data.Summary ?
