try to run Notification migration tool and it gives message, see attachment.
We have PI AF 2017 SP2 installed (including PI Notification service 2017).
The tool is checking for an attribute in AF Configuration Database. Verify that there is an attribute with the path: \Configuration\OSIsoft\PIANO\Notifications\Service|DataDirectory and it is accessible to the user that is running the migration tool. The default value is C:\ProgramData\OSIsoft\PINotifications\Data
While the fix is probably straight-forward, I'm wondering a bit more about the details here to figure out how this happened. This should be setup automatically by the installer. You might need to open a tech support case to get assistance in figuring out the root cause. Is this in a cluster? Was this an upgrade from 2016 R2? Did the user just not have the permission to read the data? Was there any indication of a failure or problem in the installer?
Yea, it was PIFD DB upgrade from 2016 to 2017, I don't see any Notification element.
also it shows nothing under Notification Rule template in library, I assume it's because I need to run migration tool.
one more picture.
Also I contacted with support, their advice is completely different what you suggested, for some reason they asked to re-install PI Notification 2017 while
it doesn't make sense to me.
I was merely pointing out what causes that specific error. If that was the only issue you were facing, creating it might fix your issue. However, given this additional information, I agree with them. It sounds like the installation did not work properly, in which case just creating the attribute is not going to resolve your case because the installer does many other things that will need to be verified. You probably need to re-run the installer as they mentioned. If the install says it succeeded, there should be a link to the bundle install log. If the system is still not working correctly, we will need the install log to figure out why the installer is indicating it succeeded but it does not appear like anything is configured.
again it was PIFD DB upgrade and as you can see no attributes you mention. I'm not sure they are right, since installation passed ok, no errors.
Actually before even running the installer again, you should just get the bundle install logs from C:\ProgramData\OSIsoft\Setup\log.
