    PI Archive hits monitoring

we have a lot of archives and they are currently stored on the disk's that is part of the server. The data that we have is not more than 5 years old. We want to optimize our server disk space and hence would like to put a mechanism in place where we want to track which archive was used quite often. If we track it then we know what data is frequently utilized by the users.

I believe there are some file tracking applications available but not sure which one to go for. Any suggestions ??

I don't have a specific program that I would recommend for monitoring file reads but I did want to mention that there is an archive read cache which could potentially skew your results.  If a chunk of data is frequently used you may not see as many archive file reads as you might expect due to caching.
