Thanks for sharing Wolfgang. It absolutely makes sense to think about the merits of a project and not just go with the hype. Two related examples come to my mind: HP's Project Moonshot which may be a really good one; although we will have to wait and see how it turns out. In short, it is about replacing faster, better, and more power hungry servers with simpler, slower, and more efficient ones where there is no need to be critically fast.
On the other hand, many people already heard of Solyndra, a company that created a lot of hype about creating green energy jobs (not IT related but green). Now it seems the whole plan has been flawed.
