Why does the installer think PI Analysis and Notifications services are already running on another server?

I am following the installation instructions to set up AF across three machines. I have two AF Servers behind F5 and have successfully connected them to an existing AF SQL database. I did NOT install Analysis or Notifications on the AF Servers. I am now setting up the Analysis and Notifications server. When it comes time in the installer to point this analytics server to the AF server, I put in the virtual domain name from the F5. It is able to resolve this, but then indicates that PI Analysis Service and PI Notifications Service are already running on the machines behind the F5, and my only option is to use those services, rather than install them on this standalone server. What is on the AF servers that makes the installer think that Analytics and Notifications are already running, and how do I fix it? Did installing PSE on the AF Servers confuse it?
